Statement
Shirle' was a surrealist painter and the subconscious has symbolic language which fascinated her - bringing her into exploring the mysteries of the Universe. Her paintings were different - one of a kind. Her use of colour and design expressed a gift from the Creator.
She was fascinated by the symbolic language of the subconscious, the mysteries of the universe, and the Creator. Her background is mainly classical; and she was grateful to her mentor Dr. Arthur Lismer, ( a member of the famous Group of Seven) while I studied at the National Museuam of Fine Arts in Montreal, for his support sheand encouragement and for allowing her artistic expression free rein.
Each painting shown in the gallery is of another dimension. She saw it with her "third eye" and translated it surrealistically. Each viewer may see in them something different; the mind is an ever changing landscape.
